*The serve RAID controller can transfer data in parallel from the multiple drives in the array.

*This parallel data transfer rates that are many times higher than with non-arrayed drives.

*This increased speed / throughput make system better.

How redundant array of independent drives(RAIDs)can improve  reliability?

*Improves availability by adding redundant disks.

*When a disk fails, the lost information can be reconstructed by using redundant disk.

The idea behind RAID is to use some of the disks to store error correction information for the reset of the disks.
