explain te pricipel of spread spectrum as used in CDMA

  • In CDMA systems that narrow band message signal is multiplied by a very large bandwidth signal called the spreading signal.
  • the spreading signal is a pesudo noise code sequence that has a chip rate which is many times greater than the data rate of the message.
  • while this system is very bandwidth efficient for a single user the advantage of spreading spectrum is that many users can simultaneously use the same bandwidth without significantly interfering with one another.
  • one technique which CDMA use to combine the digital information stream with the PN
code is using EX-OR gates in CDMA spreading is normally done in three steps.
