IF repeaters use two back to back
connected transmitter/receiver pairs providing access at IF only. Here noises of hops add together as in analogue systems.
In BB repeaters two complete terminals are back to back connected at BB interface,
In BB repeaters two complete terminals are back to back connected at BB interface,
Notice that in BB repeaters, the
signals are regenerated for retransmission.
As a result they utilize full advantages of digital transmission but
require more equipment and consume more power.
Some times, a third type of repeater (RF repeater) is used.
It similar to IF repeater but
more efficient in terms of DC power consumption.
